Data General DG-40G-SR-MM850 is a 40G QSFP+ BiDi multi-mode fiber transceiver for short-range 40 Gigabit Ethernet links. Supports up to 150 m over OM4 MMF using duplex LC connectors, compliant with IEEE 802.3ba.
The DG-40G-SR-MM850 is a high-performance 40 Gbps QSFP+ optical transceiver designed for short-range multi-mode fiber applications in data centers and enterprise networks. It uses bi-directional (BiDi) transmission over a standard LC duplex connector, operating at 850 nm and 900 nm wavelengths, allowing the reuse of existing LC duplex MMF cabling infrastructure.
The module integrates four electrical lanes at 10.3125 Gbps compliant with the 40GE XLPPI interface, internally multiplexed into two 20 Gbps optical channels transmitted and received bidirectionally over multimode fiber. It supports transmission distances of up to 100 m over OM3 MMF and 150 m over OM4 MMF.
Compliant with IEEE 802.3ba, QSFP+ MSA, and SFF-8436, the DG-40G-SR-MM850 ensures broad interoperability with 40G-capable switches, routers, and aggregation platforms. With its hot-pluggable QSFP+ form factor, robust EMI shielding, and commercial temperature range, it is an efficient and cost-effective solution for high-density 40G Ethernet deployments.
